Week 1-Introduction and verbs
- Due Thursday: Review English verb agreement and powerpoint (posted on BlackBoard). Read Introduction to Wheelock and pages 1-5; Look over internet handout for English verb agreement review (you will see one of these sentences on your quiz FRIDAY!); Fill out student info sheet; Review and sign Syllabus and Etiquette Policy acknowledgement.
- Due Friday: Quiz 1 on the meanings of morphology and syntax; first conjugation; vocabulary for first conjugation; (i.e. amare, cogitare, dare, errare, laudare, servare, conservare, vocare); personal endings; verb agreement; infinitive; and syllabus policies; Do Worksheet on first conjugation.
Week 2

Week 4
- Due Monday: Write out translations into English of Exercitationes (pg. 44): 1, 2, 3, 7, 10; Read Chapters 6 and 7; watch a narrated powerpoint on blackboard to prepare you for third declension; memorize third declension over the weekend
- Due Tuesday: Exercitationes for Chapter 6: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8; WB (optional to help study for class): 46-47: 9, 10, ex. A Quiz on present, future, and imperfect tenses in first and second conjugation; verb "to be" (sum, esse, fui, futurus) in present, future, and imperfect tense; know rhotacization and assimilation rules; third declension endings

- Thursday: WB page 70: 14, 15; page 71: A; Write out Exercitationes, TB page 75: 2, 4, 5, 8, 10: parse the UNUS NAUTA nouns and third conjugation verbs *FYI* Iste, Ista, Istud means the "THAT" which you would capitalize in an angry tweet/FB post to show disapproval. "I can't believe Justin Bieber said THAT" or "Not THAT guy (referring to Justin Bieber)!" It's used to put distance between the speaker and whatever thing they are pointing out.
- Friday: Quiz UNUS NAUTA; Ille, illa, illud; hic, haec, hoc; third conjugation infinitive, present, future, imperfect, and imperatives; Eta Sigma Phi event, Pie a Classicist: 2-4, Gregory Plaza--come pie your instructor (me) in the face.
- FRIDAY Extra Credit: Corrections for test due: I: Morphology: rewrite each chart in which you made an error and write an explanation on how you erred, and how you will remember the correct morphology in the future II: Sentences: rewrite the sentence, rewrite an accurate translation, and diagram the sentence (i.e. parsing all the elements); III: translate the passage and explain why each sentence was tricky.
Week 6
- Monday: Have memorized ego/nos and tu/vos (page 87/88 in TB); start memorizing vocabulary for chapter 10
- Tuesday: Quiz on vocabulary chapters 9 and 10/; remember to study concepti cumuli EC ON quiz: Conjugate any fourth conjugation verb; WB page 78, exercitationes A and B
- Wednesday: Exercitationes page 83: 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10-- parse all verbs, all ablatives, and all pronouns/demonstratives (what are their forms?); label any constructions (what are their functions?)
- Thursday: WB: page 87: B, C, and D

- Thursday: Exercitationes 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10--parse all adjectives and say whether they are 1, 2, 3 termination adjectives; WB: page 122-123--9 and 10
- Friday: Quiz on 3rd declension adjectives, uses of adjectives; uses of ablative/genitive, numbers 1-10; 100 (cardinals and ordinals); Corrections for Test due--rewrite the charts of any morphology you missed; rewrite sentences you missed and parse the words; do your best on correcting the passage; NB: underlines on your test mean syntax problems while circles mean vocab problems
Week 10
- Monday: Optional--read the 38 Latin Stories corresponding to Chapter 16 (page 28): take no more than 30 minutes with your notes and textbook closed, using only the notes on the passage on the facing page; after that; hand it in to me for Extra Credit on your HOMEWORK grade
- Tuesday: WB 130: 6, 7; Ex A; Quiz on Chapter 15 and 16 vocabulary; relative pronoun (how to form it); cloud concepts!
- Wednesday: Exercitationes pg. 142: 1-4, 6; pg. 150: 1, 2 (for all sentences, parse all verbs and relative pronouns); Read chapter 18 and pages 169-170; compare what we did today with first and second present system passive with the third and fourth conjugation—we’ll put it all together
- Thursday: Exercitationes: page 150--3, 4, 7, 9, 10 (for all sentences identity each clause, each subject of each clause; parse each relative pronoun and identify its antecedent; parse each verb of each clause, and parse any ablatives); read over chapters 17 and 18 as needed; Halloween!
- Friday: Quiz on use of relative pronoun, relative clauses, and passive voice. Powerpoints available.
Week 11
- Monday: Watch a powerpoint on BB and take a diagnostic HW quiz (posted under assignments tab--let me know ASAP if it doesn't work for you); Optional translation homework read Thirty-Eight Latin Stories 32-33 for extra translation practice
- Tuesday: Quiz on 4th declension (be able to decline any adjective with the fourth declension) and all uses of the ablative learned thus far (including separation and abl. place from which--look through your TB and the posted powerpoint to study those examples with the relevant vocabulary!); WB 144-146: 1-4; 6; 8; page 148 A: 1-5

Week 16
- Monday: Wheelock's Exercitationes page 196: 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 13; for the parsing, focus on identifying ablative absolutes, passive periphrastic, dative of agents and any other ablative constructions. No need to parse for "form"--just function (unlike what I ask you on tests); LOOK at sententiae 1, 5, 7, 9 (on the copy I'll email you all, I've given you hints--we will do the sententiae verbally in class)
- Tuesday: Ablative Absolute and Ablative uses quiz!
- Wednesday: Complete worksheet handed out in class; read through Chapter 25 and start memorizing vocab
